Hola Rafa! How are you feeling now? Glad to know you are on your way to Canada for more agressive training. Hope the trainings will help you in preparing for US Open. I really miss you. Miss watching you playing tennis and miss to see you winning the tournament. You are ready to win for the US Open right? I believe you will reclaim the No. 1 rank soon - Hayati (Singapore)

Hi Rafa: I am a great fan of yours. I emailed you earlier as well but got no response :). I am writing to make a suggestion for you to plan this year. If you are aiming the grand slam this year..then it's better you skip Madrid as you'll need a lot of time to be ready for Queens and Wimby. After that you have a few hardcourt tournaments and it's prudent you have enough gas for US open. Look at what you can achieve this year as it may be your only opportunity. Hope you get the grand slam. Take care. AK
Asif Kh

Hi, I think my schedule is right. We prepare the season carefully and knowing what's best. Then it could change. But Madrid is an important event since it is played in Spain. We agree that it is not the best to prepare for Roland Garros since the conditions are different, but I like to play in front of my people. Thanks anyway!

March 06 | 2009
Hi...em...I'm Xiao from China. First, I like the way you play tennis and...bravo. Here's my question: why aren' t your clothes sleeveless this year? Anyway, good luck and have a nice season.
Xiao

I decided to change. I like it. Hope you too!

Hi Rafa! Actually i don't have much to say but i was just wondering why are you so serious? why don't you smile? Don't worry just a little smile won't bother you and it probably make your face look better. Be sure. Good luck. (????? ????)
solmaz

Hi and thanks for your tip. I´ll try to do it more often. Here you go one big smile for you :-))

How are your knees after your fantastic year. Please rest them a bit.
carol marshall

Carol, knees are well, just needed some rest and that's what I am doing since otherwise I wil arrive to the end of the season in the same way as last year. Thanks

February 13 | 2009
First of all, I'd like to say that I don't miss one of your games and that I really admire you as a tennis player but also for your personality. I'd like to know how do you maintain yourself so calm during the matches?
Vivian de Lerbo

Hi Vivian, thanks a lot for your comments. I just try to stay clm during the important points and focus on what I would like to do. Important NOT to lose concentration. Thanks

Hi Rafa! Firstly, I think that you're an awesome player. I'd love to see you play, but because I live in Portugal and here there is any special or important tournament, I only can see you play at tv... Have you ever been to Estoril Open (Portugal) before? If no, why? If yes, never thought to participate again? Good luck for this season!
Ana

Hi Ana,  I have been at the Estoril Open and played there. I had to retire after I won my match against Gasquet back in 2004. I don't know if I'll be back, you never know. Nowadays the tennis calendar is really busy so it is difficult for me and I have to chose the tournaments carefully. Moito obrigado.

January 12 | 2009
Hi Rafa! Best of luck for your 2009 season. My question is now that you have captured singles and doubles titles, have you ever thought of playing mixed doubles? If you choose to play, who will be your Partner? Which WTA player (past OR present) do you consider as the best? GOOD LUCK FOR AO'09! VAMOS!
shubha

Thanks Shubha,

No, I cannot play mixed doubles and not thinking about it. I don't even play doubles at the Grand Slams. We don't have much time and the most important thing we need to be focussed and rest for the already tough singles matches. Thanks for your support. Rafa

Hi Rafa.I know that you like rock music(me too) and I wanted to ask you what is your favourite band? And your favourite song?
Liliana

Hi, I like very much a Spanish band called "La Oreja de Van Gogh" (http://www.laorejadevangogh.com/) and to be honest I like all their songs.

They played on Tuesday at the event we organized against the Malaria and I had the luck to meet them also afterwards at the dinner and party. Really nice guys too !

I can kind of relate to your situation I was diagnosed with tendonitis in my kneea few weeks ago and find it reallly hard to play sport, I was wondering what advice you had to stretch it and get it better?
Kirstie Friend

Hi Kirstie,

The only thing I can do these days is rest. I am not supposed t do any sport at all until Saturday. Then on Monday I will go back to Barcelona, do some more tests and try to play and see if I have no pain. The doctor tells me that the body needs to do its work and regenerate. That's all.

Thanks for the support

May 28 | 2008
Hello, Mr. Rafael. A lot of people admire you for being a champion both on and off the court. Now I ask you to order those according to your preference: your fourth Roland Garros, the Davis Cup or the golden medal at Beijing. Thanks a lot and good luck, crack!
Anonymous

Thanks a lot. In chronological order, Paris, Wimbledon, Beijing and Davis Cup lol. They all are important, so, at this moment, Roland Garros. After that, we’ll see. Winning everything you say would be unbelievable.

May 27 | 2008
Hello, Rafa. We are waiting expectantly for your debut at Roland Garros 08. ¿How does the rain issue affects your concentration and your day by day at Paris?
Borja Madrid

Actually, it’s almost unbearable. It reminds me a lot the Wimbledon tournament of the last year. Today I only played 7 minutes at 7’30 p.m. after leaving the hotel at 8’30 a.m. I warmed up a bit at 3 p.m., for about 17 minutes. But the situation is the same for the two players, that’s the fact.

May 27 | 2008
Hi, Rafa. First of all, I wanted to thank you for your spirit and dedication, that returned me old memories of Connors and McEnroe. I’d like to know how do you see yourself in the second half of the year, after Wimbledon. Do you think you can reach the number one?
Anonymous

Well, let’s see how I manage to finish the first half before thinking in the second one, right? This year has been the best one in my entire career, you only have to take a look at the points I’ve obtained and the regularity in every tournament besides Roma. I hope the second half of the year will be that good.

About reaching the number one… we’ll see, I’m not thinking that much about it.

May 27 | 2008
Hi, Rafa. What do you think about ‘the Djokovic menace’? As you pointed out, he could surpass you during this year (although it won’t be easy for him). However, I think that, ever if he surpasses you this year, the next one Djokovic won’t be able to keep those results. Are you worried or it doesn’t bothers you at all?
Anonymous

Djokovic is playing really well, and he’s a total player. But, at the forefront it’s Federer, and in the race we are side by side. This is a very good year, especially for the fans. We’ll see how it ends. I hope everything will go well.

May 27 | 2008
Hi, Rafa. First of all, my best wishes for you at Roland Garros. I want to ask you a couple of things: don’t you think it’s a little unfair the fact that the Federer match was brought forward, when the majority of his group were playing in Tuesday? Could you tell me what you think about your group? Greetings, and good luck, champion!
Emilio Javier Navarro

Hi Emilio, thanks a lot. I don’t think they know it was about to rain. Thinking about advantages would be an error. Things have come like this, that’s all. The first affected for the situation, besides ourselves the players, is the organisation. It’s just a matter of luck.

Someone could say that situation benefits me, because I have more days to rest. It all depends on who you ask. However, I would prefer to have played, for sure.

March 16 | 2007
Hi Rafa! I'd like to know where did you have your best fishing experience, and how big was the biggest fish you're captured.
Lynn

That question is a difficult one, trust me. The biggest fish I captured was about one meter long, I think, in Mallorca.

March 16 | 2007
What do you think about Kim Clijsters and her decision of retire from sport?
Amber

She is a great person, and we'll miss her a lot in the tournaments. But it's her decision and I'm sure it will be a good choice. She wants to start a family... It's logic.

March 07 | 2007
How many sons would you like to have?
Grama

Well, I don't know it at this time.

March 07 | 2007
Between all the matches you've played, what's the one you would pick?
Alex

I can't pick a single one. I have a lot of memories and obviously the Copa Davis' match against Roddick comes immediately to my mind, as well as the two finals of Roland Garros. I usually remind every game I play.

March 07 | 2007
Do you have any pet?
Annie

No, I don't.

March 07 | 2007
Hi Rafa! There are always a lot of fans shouting your name during your games. Can you hear them despite of the concentration?
Pam

Pam, I try as hard as I can to keep concentrated, but sure I can listen people shouting my name and giving me their support. I have to thank all of you for that.

March 07 | 2007
Hi Rafa! First of all, you're an awesome player, I love to see your games. I want to know what do you do with your old racquets.
Etje

Normally I just give them to my fans or friends. I always keep at least one for me, thinking about the future...
